Rated 5 out of 5 by Jlit from I will be doing this again. I recieved the American Lager kit in 2022 as a gift and have since brewed a refill kit in January of 2025. This year I started brewing as a hobby and have since purchased Mr. Beer's American Golden Ale x2, American Lager x2, Surly Dog IPA, and Nilla Porter. I have bottled and force carbinated the Golden Ale and American Lager. I would choose the Golden Ale over the Lager if you were to Force carbinate, as the Lager was too sweet but definently drinkable for my liking. The Lager and Ale both were great after bottle conditioning and I prefer them over Coors Banquet. ABV ended up at 4.8% after 15 days in the fermentor using a hydrometer. I will be trying an extra booster in my next batch.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointed too from Malt extract can is not the normal size A normal can is around 3.3 pounds. MrBeer's is only 1.87 pounds. You will have to use two of his cans when you start a batch.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Joe881 from Great taste over priced I received Mr. Beer as a Christmas gift. I brewed my first batch and I found it as good as any you can buy in the store. The down side is the replacement cost and the time it takes to brew make it unrealistic to brew further batches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DrownInLysergic from Good Product Bad User Good quality product. Had a bit of user error and accidentally over carbonated my brew, but I enjoyed a tasting before hand that was quite good. The over carbonated product was drinkable, and still had a decent flavor for what it was. Would try this one again now that I have more experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Smokin Toes from Great HME! I've been using American Lager HME in a partial mash with 2-row barley, flaked corn, and Saflager 23 yeast. It takes 3 weeks to ferment, and 2 months to lager, but it's well worth it! You get a very tasty lager that stores for a long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by IronChopz from An Excellent Go-To Beer An excellent go-to refill. I brew this on a regular basis, and have tried it with a few of the LMEs available. All have turned out well. I find the preparation simple/easy to complete...it's definitely worth trying.
